Tuki Carter – “Atlantafornication” (mixtape)

This is the first solo project from a dude that’s been one of the illest for a minute.

Tuki Carter is a name you should recognize if you’ve been coming around these parts for the last few years. Some know him as the world reknown tattoo artist who has inked up everybody from Wiz Khalifa to Rick Ross to Young Jeezy to Big Meech (BMF) and he is also co-founder of City of Ink Tattoo and Art Gallery.

Others know him as one of the founding members of one-time Otherground Atlanta supergroup Hollyweerd, but now he is a solo artist signed to Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang and is currently on the road with Wiz and Juicy J as a part of the 2050 tour.

Atlantafornication sounds nothing like he’s done in the past, he’s slowed down his flow a bit from roller coaster to bumper car…meaning that he still switches it up and goes in a completely different direction, many times before he even finishes the though. You can also tell that he’s been around Wiz and Juicy a lot more from how he’s learned to put more structure to the songs instead of just going in and going for his as he used to do all of the time.

Only drawback is, although the project is free, I wish some of the songs were mixed a little better because I would hate for anybody to get the wrong idea about his music. But I trust he knows what he’s doing. Some of my personal favorites are “Snoozing,” “Hustle On,” “Green Backs.” “Stressin 2″ is pretty entertaining too because I’ve seen some of these episodes with my own eyes and know its true.

While it sounds cool on the computer, Tuki is definitely an artist whose performance sells the record. Seeing him rap adds an extra element to the song every time you see him, so if the 2050 Tour is coming to your city, I suggest you get there when the doors open so you can see what I’m talking about. And if you’re lucky enough, he’ll even tattoo you after the show…that’s better than any t-shirt.
